which cpu fan is bettter, globalwin fop38 or a volcano 7?

Here's a nice review of 46 coolers

I know your HS are not in the list - I guess I'd take the Volcano 7 because of the variable fan. Either way, they're both nice HS.

Thought I'd make your decision a little more challenging. What CPU are you cooling?

according to a review here, the FOP38 performs only marginally better than a V2. I'm thinking that the V7 isn't really designed to be a performance heatsink - it's designed to offer quiet operation - comes with a thermister that measures CASE temperature, not CPU temperature that kicks the fan into high-gear when things warm up a bit.....

The GC68 does look a bit interesting, can't really find any info on it besides off of SVC's website, guess I'll have to do a review... 🙁

I have the FOP38 and it is a pretty decent cooler (my Athlon 1.4@1.53 never exceeds 44 degrees under a full load). However it is VERY noisey!

Good question! I can't speak for the FOP but I have the V7 and am plenty satisfied with the results. It's quiet, cool and inexpensive.
