I cann't decide which system to build. Primary use will be doing lots of Photoshop , Web Development and playing games. I decided on these combinations and comments

For P4
I will be getting this board (ABIT IC7-G) or P4P800 Deluxe with 2.4C or 2.6C . Any problems overclocking with this setup
Kingston Hyper X 1G B( 512 x2) or Corsair 1GB DDR 400.

For AMD
Abit NF7S Or A7N8X-E Deluxe with 3000+ and 1GB DDR 400.

Thanks

Get teh Athlon 64 3000+ and forget about overclocking. It outperforms the 3.2c in most applications including photoshop. I have the intel system you mentioned (IC7-g, 2.8c@ 3.5, hperx 3200) and I would choose the 3000+. Oh yeah it OCs too.

If your overclocking is what you are aiming for then it is clear from your rather funny choice of amd chips that the intel is the better route....NOw substitute in the 2500+ barton and it s a toss-up for me cause the 2500+ is so cheap compared to a 2.4 or 2.6c. Maybe you chose the 3000+ cause it was near the cost of the retail of the 2.4 or 2.6c

From what I can tell you is that I have a 2500@3200+ barton here right now and it does not compare to my 2.6c@3.2 I had or an benches I have ran with my 2.4@3.2...through in HT and it becomes not even close. However 90 versus 160 dollars is hard to overlook....if you are lucky and get 2.3ghz to 2.4ghz with the barton then you could have a better system then the 2.4 or 2.6 @ 3.2ghz but on the other hand you could get more then 3.2ghz out of the P4..So who really knows...

I like the idea of the A64 3000+ and oc that up to 2.2-2.3ghz levels...I still would rather have my 2.4@3.5 then the A64 but it may be unlikley you will get the 3.5ghz...

Hmmm... what benches do you have to show for this? Mind benching that 2.4 in Sandra and screen shotting the results?

Ok for Intel which gives me more bang for buck 2.4C or 2.6C , board Abit IC7-G or ASUS P4P800 and Kingston HyperX or Corsair .
