Is the Xbox 360 wireless internet? If I wait and get RB2 will the new instruments be backwards compatible with RB1? What is different on the instruments?

Yes you can use RB1 instruments in RB2... the new drums have expansion ports to add cymbals and are a supposed to be sturdier... as opposed to the crap they put out in RB1. Same goes for the guitar.. new look , sturdier strum bar.. etc... I still prefer the Guitar Hero wireless LP personally.

The 360 requires an addon component (~$100 ugh...) to have wireless internet... there are some cheaper options , but regardless you need an addon for wireless. If you do a search there are lots of threads about that.

BUT, the RB2 SE will be 300 bucks. I will get the game and use the instruments I already own.

If you're getting it just for occasional play (and even less frequent only play) I'd go with the PS3 version. If you can get it with one of the sony carddeals the up front cost won't be much more and the downstream cost will be much less.

Seeing as you do not have a console, I'm guessing that you'll be a casual console player, much like myself. I have a PS3 which I use to game with occasionally, but I use the Blu Ray player all the time.

Not true. The special drumset will be $300 alone, but the SE is expected to come in at the same $170 mark.

No. Added cost addon.

If you wait for RB2, you'll just be able to rent RB1, pay a small fee to rip those songs (well, almost all of them) to the HDD, and play them in RB2. RB2 will be out for the 360 in mid-September, and the PS3 sometime in October.

For the 360, everything is going wireless, and on both they're adding an automatic calibration system into the guitar and making the drum set pressure sensitive and quieter.

The PS3 will be wireless also. Same for the calibration and drum pressure.

Also, the 360 version that is coming a month early in the game only. The bundle with the drums and guitar is coming out at the same time for PS3/360.

I've sort of been in a similar situation. I would buy the xbox 360 since its cheapest, especially if Queasy is right about that price drop. If thats you're only game...why pay more? The trouble is, the current 360 seems to be a bed shitting machine. They've released new versions, but so far it doesn't seem like they've improved in the failure rate department all that much. (From anecdotal evidence only). It remains to be seen whether the new one with have fixed the issues of the old.

The failure rate has dropped from an estimated 30% with the original 360 chipset to 10% with the Falcon. The new Jasper chipset will reduce the major heat generating component in the 360 and the main cause of all the failures - the GPU. That and a redesigned motherboard to improve airflow should have the 360s down to a normal acceptable rate of failures (3% or less).

That just says that instruments will be available, not bundles. All the announced dates I've seen show the bundles being released after the initial game release.
