Which Conroe Will You Be Buying?

I'm so excited for Conroe!! Finally to have an Intel processor in my system that will stop bottlenecking my video cards (to a point) ! Needless to say I will be upgrading on launch day. Thank goodness I was able to convince my wife about upgrading.

Basically what I'm wondering is which Conroe will you be buying or will you hold on to your 939, or maybe wait for quad core?

USE THE POLL.

E6600 for me. I'm hoping it will be dropped shipped to me around the 5th of July. That's so close, I need to finalize the rest of my build.

Likely the 6600, but i'll be waiting a bit to see how overclockable the cheaper versions are.

Hmm i think the OP is a viral marketer for Intel.

Interestingly enough, he posted the exact same thing on another forum i frequent.

Complete with his pro-Conroe blog link in sig...

Both forums he's new to too...very interesting.

I'll stick to AM2 if 4x4 works on the cheaper X2s, lol (yeah, I know my argument is getting kind of boring). If not then I'll buy an Allendale 'cause I'm cheap... unless performance sucks compared to Conroe.

It's a matter of economics, Socket 939 dual core after the price drop should yield a better bang for the buck due to savings on not having to get new RAM and motherboard.

I'm probably going to wait until the end of the year for the new line of video cards and do a full upgrade at that time. My 165 will easily hold me over until then.

Could be.
Certainly seems a huge Intel fanboi judging by his post.

Anyway, I'm keeping my rock solid 939 Opteron 170.
No need to change a perfectly good system imo.

I don't see how anyone can't be pro-conroe... it's an awesome chip.

E6600 most likely, though I may go E6300 or possibly 805 and wait for Kentsfield.

Any Conroe supporting mobo's that support full-speed AGP? If so I'll let you know which conroe I'll be buying!

There were some at computex, an 865 motherboard.

I really like my X2 4800+ @ 2.5GHz, but I'm planning on doing extensive video work in the next year. And from what I've seen Conroe is going to be awesome in that area. So I'm thinking E6600 and a high end motherboard that's probably not been announced yet.

E6600, not that I have any actual knowledge of it nor can I confirm nor deny my feelings about this particular processor model.

I'll wait for 2nd half of 2007 (I'm in a 2 year upgrade cycle) and see whats king of the hill by then - doesnt really matter if its blue or green.
