Waylay,

Why do you say that? Is it because I can upgrade the processor on #2 and I can use my GeForce 6900 GT with it?

I get confused with all the tech stuff from AMD and Intel.

thanks for your reply :)

can you guys say why #2 is best deal?

#1 (Sany Vaio) comes with a 20 " flat LCD and has liquid cooling for the CPU
but, does not look like you can upgrade the CPU without buysing a new motherboard.

comments please.

:)

Well the 2nd rig should be as good a performer as the Intel if not better, plus it's $250 cheaper. The second option does not have as nice a video card but you can use your card with it like you said, even though I don't think the card you have is a 6900GT???? not too sure what card that is. Anyway the second machine I am guessing can be upgraded to an X2 in the future....that is if it's a socket 939.

I second that, where are these deals coming from?

Oh and, add another check to comp #2. You can sell that 9700 Pro for around 100 bucks, making the system 350 bucks cheaper. After adding in the 6800GT, there won't be much of a comparison for gaming. Use that extra cash to buy a nice monitor if you need one.

Oh snap...I didn't see the fact that he was getting a 20" LCD...I might think of buying the Sony, keeping the monitor then selling the rest of the machine for $750 then buy the AMD for $500 and keep the $250 you earned and pocket it.

Oh yes the card I have is the 6800 GT AGP 8x version w/256 mem.

The Sony Vaio deal is from an online auction, but it seems like a scam. He wants me to send him $ via Western Union to London and use his son's name as payee. I won't buy it because like you said, it' sounds too good to be true, the system retails for $2,000 and the 20" LCD is worth probably at leat $600. I don't like the fact either that it would be shipped from London! Also the CPU cannot be upgraded.

I will probably go for the 2nd system, it's upgradeable.

"Western Union" and "London" should automatically clue you into the fact that the auction is a guarenteed scam.

Yes you are right. I'm new at online auctions and this one was at Overstock.com and I thought they would protect me from scammers. What low lifes.

the 2nd system is also from Overstock Auctions, but the seller has positve feedback, they take Pay Pal and also Visa, I have talked to him and he seems like he's on the up and up.
But how would I know for sure?

Until I started anonymizing my e-mail address, I was getting a lot of these (I think they correctly identified me as a newbie on Craigslist by the fact that I displayed my real e-mail address)
