Which components generate the most sound?

Could anyone tell me which PC components generate the most sound? I want to make my PC a bit quieter soon and not sure where to start.

Basically anything with moving parts in your PC. The biggest culprits are fans. Take off the fans from your power supply, cpu, case, etc. and they'll be no noise except for your hard drive. Of course don't remove them all as your computer will fry, you could replace them with quiter fans though. You may also wanna look into putting acoustic foam into your case as it absorbs some noise.

<< hard drive and fans, thats it, except CD drives, but thats something ya gotta deal with. >>

You can insulate the CD-ROM drive, so that the sound from it is dampened by the insulation.

fans mostly, then harddrive. buy thermal controlled fans, or just plain larger low rpm fans. dampen and insulate case with acoustic foam everywhere you can😛 it works.

The Speakers.
Just pull that little cable out of the back of your sound card, and all will be well 😀

if your cpu fan is noisy, you might wanna get an alpha pal8045. someone in this forum once told me that they are less noisy, but the downside is that they are quite expensive as compared to other fans. also, the toshiba 16x dvd-rom is said to be very quiet. just giving you options if you decide to upgrade these generally noisy parts.
