My last poll got criticized because of the word "best" being too subjective and because I didn't specify my price point.

I am going to be extremely specific this this. Which company makes the highest quality HDTV with:

LED
1080p
roughly 40" ((37" or bigger) and (43" or smaller))
under $600

What do I mean by "highest quality"? I mean which has the best picture.

I'll remind you that I will primarily be using this TV for gaming.

Just get a Vizio and call it a day man. For that price range none of the TV's are excellent.

This is your fifth currently running thread on basically the exact same topic.

I went to Walmart today and compared the Vizio you posted against the Samsung I posted. I must say, this Vixio has a terribly obnoxious glare when light shines against it. It's as shiny as a mirror. You think they would have made some effort to reduce the glare. I want to watch my tv, not all the lights in the room shining against it.

The Samsung didn't have this shiny glare issue. It looked great. I compared the 5-series against the 6-series (the 5-series has 60Hz, and the 6-series has 120Hz) and I couldn't see any difference in the frame rate whatsoever. I have a very good attention to detail too, so I don't see any advantage to having 120Hz. It just costs $100 more. I think I'm going to go with Samsung. It has a current price of $599, and is normally $678. I hope it continues to be on sale.

I got a 3D LG hdtv for under $500 a little over a year ago and it has been great for us. Avatar in 3D was so insanely cool on that TV.

Yeah Vizio is good, too. I'm sure he could find a 3D LG for 400 now, too. What size was yours?

a 42" and a 32"

Yeah mine is a 42" and I've really enjoyed it and LG has really impressed me.

I bought a 32" Sigmac plasma from Fry's iirc and it has the best picture I have ever seen on a sub $1000 hdtv bar none. I was shocked and liked it so much that I bought a 42" but it was an LCD and the picture is not nearly as nice. The 32" is a plasma and it almost looks like a short field 3D because the colors and blacks are so amazing. It has real depth to the picture and anything you display on it looks phenomenal. Not bad at all for the I think $225-ish I paid for it.

I thought I made up my mind, but the more I look at that Samsung, the more I dislike the slow 60 Hz frame rate (which is noticeable), the dim-looking picture, the shiny screen, and the minimal outputs.

I'm looking more seriously at Vizios now. Main thing I can't get over is how shiny the screen is. I truly hate that. If a TV screen is shinier than a window, that's a problem.

I'm also considering LCD's more strongly now. The LED screens seem dim in comparison. Especially when you view them from a side angle.

My real vote would be to get a $400 40" LCD from Woot and spend the remaining money on a BluRay player.

I mean, come on... You can't even tell the difference between a 40" 720p and 40" 1080p TV at a distance of over 8 feet. Don't obsess over the details.

Good grief you haven't made up your mind YET about which set to buy? Do you obsess over every minute detail over every purchase you make like this? Just buy a TV and move on with your life. There will never be a "perfect" TV or a "perfect" purchase. Just buy a TV before you get an ulcer over it! Are you really even serious about buying a TV?

Trust me, even after he/she buys a tv, then it will just be threads about one minute tiny detail and whats wrong with it and how to fix it. :\

Go hang out over at avsforum or something.

It's annoying how some of these stores don't even have the model numbers listed. I can go online and see two 42" LED 1080p Vizios that look very similar, but one is rated highly by consumers and the other is rated low. The only way I am able to tell the difference in the store is if I see the model number, which many stores don't even list...
