anyway, dont you have to be l33t to even consider the chance of being admitted to ivy league schools or even the mini-ivies? i mean leet as in crazy good, with 1450+sats, 4.0+ gpas, and an array of high-positions in extra curricular activities?

yes, OR your parent(s) is an alum, OR you have a ton of money, OR you came from a very disadvantaged background and overcame a ton of adversity blah blah blah

btw, don't waste your time doing volunteer after the first term/semester in your senior year. no one will look at it.

why do you keep giving misinformation? THE IVY LEAGUE DOES NOT GIVE SCHOLARSHIPS. and if the OP wanted to do engineernig, the ivy league is not the place to start looking (Besides Cornell)

It's only undergrad, the Ivy League are excellent for anything. Even for engineering, all of the non-Cornell Ivy schools are well known in their specific fields and they're all first-tier ranked (graduate) despite their small sizes.

Oh yes I definitely agree. I just meant that for the most part, if someone is interested in engineering undergrad, I wouldn't suggest looking at the Ivies first

Your stats are good enough for Purdue, I can tell you that much. I was a HS Senior last year and was accepted with a 3.3 weighted gpa, and a 1360 SAT with 0 community service or extracurricular activities except for 2 years of football my freshman and sophmore year. Ended up deciding to attend University of Oregon instead though because of their excellent business school and the fact that I live in California.

financial aid provided to a student on the basis of academic merit

And here, from MIT's own financial aid website:

We award aid on the basis of demonstrated financial need. This means that we do not offer any merit or athletic scholarships.

Get your facts straight fool. MIT isn't in the Ivy League either.

And AgaBooga, sorry to hijack the thread. I'll post some more info for ya later.

ok, so that was "financial aids" I was referring to. they are generous for everyone in the states, except international student.

when a school give you full "financial aids" for 4 years, do you tell people that you got full financial aids to a school or full scholarships? well, I would choose the latter.

MIT isn't in ivy, then who are the 7 schools in ivy? perhaps, you can enlighten me a bit.

If a school gives you full financial assistance because your economic situation, and you say you're getting a full ride, you aren't lying. But to say you're going on a full ride on a scholarship is just lying.

For your reference, the schools in the Ivy League are:

Brown University
Columbia University
Cornell University
Dartmouth College
Harvard University
University of Pennsylvania
Princeton University
Yale University

Wow, a girl? Where did that idea come from? No, I'm a guy, talking about the military? wtf? I don't think I've ever discussed the military on a forum, as for cars, I can't talk a whole lot because I'm still learning a lot

Kettering has a good Business and CS program (and one of the best engineering in the world). Girls, have a great chance at top scholarships as well. If you're looking into Spanish though, forget about it.
