What colleges should I look at if I want to study something in business as a major and maybe a minor in Spanish or computer science?

I live in Indiana so I'd like to get some names of in-state colleges too for studying business

bah, Purdue has Krannert school of business, but I've heard Kelly(sp) at IU has a better reputation for business.

If I were in Indiana, I'd go to Purdue for just about everything. I lived there for a couple of years and from everything I've heard, it's the best school in the state. Maybe even in the area.

a little more info would be helpful, such as your stats, and parents' financial situation

in greek, "school" means "leisure". well, with today's tuition, not everyone can afford to study what they are interested in without thinking the debts. I tend not to think that way. oh well...

Right now I have about a 3.7 average, I'm only a junior in HS just trying to get an idea what colleges I should shoot for. I haven't taken the SAT's yet, but freshman year I was in ski and snowboard club, sophomore year I was in and vp of ACM, some computer thing, as well as Key Club which does community service. To tell the truth, I didn't do any community service last year, this year I'm on the board and my goal would be 100 hours by the end of senior year. My work load from classes isn't so high this year so I'll probably join ACM again, maybe the spanish club, and I'm thinking the math club because they do things with lots of colleges and some people have already been admitted to colleges just because they were on the team or something. This year I'm trying to start a little service type thing to people around where I live, if that doesn't go well I'll probably pick up a job somewhere

as for financial situation, I think I'll be fine money wise because my dad has been saving money, although I would like to work my way through college and try to pay as much of it as I can because I'm sure it feels much more satisfying doing it on your own

you are female right? are you down for engineering? ivy league or some top engineering schools will take you with full scholarships for sure. they are deperated for girls (even better if you are minority).

btw, don't waste your time doing volunteer after the first term/semester in your senior year. no one will look at it.

why do you keep giving misinformation? THE IVY LEAGUE DOES NOT GIVE SCHOLARSHIPS. and if the OP wanted to do engineernig, the ivy league is not the place to start looking (Besides Cornell)

also.. if you have a good idea of what you want to "do" career wise.. take a look at who recruits from the colleges your looking at and what the recuit for... that's one thing I wish I did when looking for schools b.c my school mostly recruits for accountants and financial positions.. good luck

misinformation?

MIT FOR INSTANCE

How many students receive financial aid?
Here are some statistics from the 2002-2003 school year:

* 71.6% of all students received financial aid
* The average grant and scholarship of aid-eligible students was $19,010
* The average family contribution was $12,285
* The term-time self-help requirement was $5,500

Please note: the above figures are averages and may differ from year to year and student to student.

Federal Grants Administered by MIT

MIT administers two federal grant programs, the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Award (SEOG) and the Federal Pell Grant. The SEOG is a grant of up to $4,000 awarded to undergraduates with the greatest financial need. Pell Grants range from $400 to $4,050. If you are awarded either of these grants, it will be included in your financial aid package.

grant is about $400-$4000 from federal, the rest is directly from the school aka "scholarship" or "grant" if you like to call it. IVY LEAGUES GIVE OUT TONS OF SCHOLARSHIPS. that's how private school work. my school is a public state uni, they don't give me a penny. I guess you got it mixed up.

I thought you knew how to play the college game...apparently, you don't.

I don't think she wants to get into engineering, so she shouldn't be looking at all.

Its not a scholarship. Its FINANCIAL AID, for people who need it. Why don't we go ahead and define scholarship:

financial aid provided to a student on the basis of academic merit

And here, from MIT's own financial aid website:

We award aid on the basis of demonstrated financial need. This means that we do not offer any merit or athletic scholarships.

Get your facts straight fool. MIT isn't in the Ivy League either.

And AgaBooga, sorry to hijack the thread. I'll post some more info for ya later.

i didnt know agabooga was a girl. he/she's always talking about cars and the military and stuff.

anyway, dont you have to be l33t to even consider the chance of being admitted to ivy league schools or even the mini-ivies? i mean leet as in crazy good, with 1450+sats, 4.0+ gpas, and an array of high-positions in extra curricular activities?
