Yep. With the Gevalia deal, you can get either a SS 12-cup programable coffee maker, SS Travel mug, and two pounds of coffee, or the coffee maker, SS scoop, and 2 pounds of coffee...both for under $20 ($19.95 or $14.95).

The coffee maker is nice, and it sells for $80 on their site. I'm sure it's not the best out there, but it was nicer than the $60 Braun it replaced at my house.

:)

Bunn Thermofresh.
The most awesome coffee maker on earth. It keeps water hot inside itself so you get a full pot of coffee in 3 minutes or less.
The carafe keeps the coffee fresh and warm for hours.
I'm seldom very happy with anything. This coffee maker is one thing I'm very happy with.
I second this. We got one a few months back, and it make coffee super-fast.

The coffee tastes good too. I have bought some rather expensive pots to brew good joe, ans this is one of the better maker.
I third the Bunn recommendation, but I don't see the point of paying $30.00 more for the insulated carafe. There's a heating plate to keep it warm.

We owned our first Bunn for 18 years, and it's still functioning, but in a box in the attic. Second one lasted 8 years, before the heating element in the plate quit. Just replaced it this last Mother's Day, with the B10-Black, on sale at Sears.

Ten cups in just 3 minutes!
I like the carafe because it keeps the coffee hot without cooking it down.
My coffee intake lasts from about 6:30 in the morning till noon. That noon cup of coffee was always cooked down and awful.
Granted, it wasn't very often that I had that bad cup of coffee, but the carafe removes that likelihood altogether.
The carafe makes a nice presentation for picnics and dinners, too. The coffee can go right to the table and never gets cold or gets bugs in it.
One last carafe thing...
My wife used to cook a few times a week for folks at her Mom's personal care home. She could make a pot of coffee and take it along with her.
I think you'd like the carafe, Ornery. It just adds a few semi-intangibles to a perfect coffee maker.

We already bought the unit without the carafe, so it will be another decade before we're in the market again. Are you saying the warming plate doesn't come on at all with the carafe unit, or it comes on, but not as hot, or what?

Since it can make a few cups in a couple minutes, I don't see the need to make a full ten cup pot to last all day. Just make 5 cups twice, no?

been looking for a wedding gift and i came across this melitta 10-cup mill and brew and it has a better review than the cursineart grind and brew, plus it's only $55! (probably will get cheaper once in a while)

plus it has a permanent filter. no more buying filter paper!

Nope, there's no warming plate at all. The carafe is that well insulated.
I preheat it with hot tap water when I fill the machine and that helps it keep the coffee even hotter, longer.
I generally drink a pot of cofffee very quickly (half-caff). The second pot is the one that sits around. If it gets just a little too cool, I can nuke my cup of coffee for just a few seconds and it tastes just as good as when I brewed it.
Coffee never gets wasted like when I had a warming plate.

Really how good is the Gevalia one? My Dad jumped on the deal for me (I'm so proud)!
