Which Chipset it the best for AMD

I've used VIA based boards for years with no stability problems, but I have read several posts from users who won't touch them. I am curious to know the primary reason why VIA chipset has such a bad rap. As I said, mine is stable but I do see a difference in application load time response between the MSI - VIA and the ASUS - Intel 845. Both are fairly close in spec but the P4 loads MS Office apps in a snap. The XP takes a while. Example: I click on MS Word and it takes about 2-3 seconds to load with the MSI-VIA and no more than a second to load with the ASUS-Intel 845. Is this a chipset related issue? I am looking at getting another AMD board but would like more info before I jump.

#1 XP 1700 , MSI K7T, 512M DDR, Maxtor 7200RPM 45g
#2 P4 1.6A, ASUS P4B266, 512 DDC, Maxtor 7200RPM 30g

Thanks

There is nothing better than nforce, except nforce2 which will be here in a few weeks. VIA chipsets have a long history of bugs and I simply do not trust them. They are a budget solution only. Get the nforce, I recommend Asus, I have two and they are both excellent.

I concur. KT333 is the best there is at the moment. I've owned 3 computers with the AMD-Via combination and never had any problems. K6-2/MVP3, Athlon K7-5/KX133, Athlon XP Palomino/KT266a.
