if you can find a job, ccna

the other network engineers here at the company i work at that work with our WAN are cisco dudes and they are one pay grade higher than us LAN/MS types

thanks for the input! jsut wondering how much money do cisco dudes average?

amount of money... has to do with your experience.
not necessarily your certifications.

most people think that once you get the certs... you'll get the $$..
but it's really not the case.

mcse has a greater demand than ccna...
but i guess in general, ccna is valued higher... 'cause there are so many paper mcse's

each paygrade here has a range, overall the WAN/cisco guys range is about $5,000 higher

but where you are on the range is dependent on other factors and the ranges overlap, so the highest paid LAN/MS engineer could be making ~$10,000 more than the lowest paid WAN/cisco guy , roughly

of course experience has a direct relation to the amount of money one can make. that goes for all aspects of a career, regardless if you have a certificate or not so all i'm asking in general how much do entry level cisco certified professions make?

CCNA'S are a dime a dozen. W2K MCSE's are in demand. the next wave of server from Microsoft is the .NET family, which is nothing more than a service pak upgrade for W2K server and XML usage. You can get CCNA certified,(and I do recommend it) with minimal study and brain power. But ultimatlely I would recommend you get MSCE or MCDBA, both can be obtained by taking 7 exams. Those two microsoft certs can open many more doors for you, albeit, Cisco certs are a definate benifit. Go for the highest you can achieve in the shortest period of time with the least amount of resources to get the best return on your investment. When you look at it that way, the MCSE will get you more, faster. CCNA just lets you configure a router. MCSE lets you configure a network. Much more demanding and need there. Cisco routers, once set up, rarely need anymore attention, unless you work in enterprize level or for a large ISP, like ATT or WorldCom or something. And then they want CCNE.

😉

All depends on which one you think is better to wipe your ass with. Personally I've found that the MCSE certificate usually has better absorption and there are usually plenty around thanks to all the paper tigers that come in and out of here.

I think you mean CCNP or CCIE...

I would think MCSE is more valuable - it seems like a higher up step up the certification rung, if you will.

CCNA is the basic Cisco cert and isn't super hard... It also gives you exprience that may be more technical, but is in less of a demand than are stills with Microsoft products.
