Which CD-Burner

Hello,

I want to buy a CD-burner I have narrowed it down to two, which of the two is better.

Plextor 40/12/40A
Lite-ON 40/12/48

I think Lite-ON is supporting Mt. Rainier but Plextor not is this true.

Overall which of the two is better.

the plextor is a fantastic drive, but the lite-on is SO much cheaper

if you've got the cash, no doubt you should go plextor

but if you want to save cash, i wholeheartedly support the lite-on

Which ever one I buy I am not going to upgrade for another 2 to 3 year so I want something that would support the future technologies like Mt. Rainier and etc. I read that Lite-ON supports it but not the plextor.
Why one and not the other.

According to CDRInfo.com's review of the Plextor, it will support the Mt.Rainier standard with a future firmware update.

Go with the Plextor.

What's the Mt Rainier standard?! My friend just bought the Lite-On 40x burner and hasn't had any problems with it yet.

Isn't Mt. Rainier just the ability to drag files to the cdr to be able to use it like a floppy diskette? That's all I thought it was. Yamaha has a bit on the Mt. Rainier with their current 24x burner(the 3200), which supports it. I wonder when the firmware for the Plextor will be available.

Mt. Rainer is a standard that allows simplification and compatibility for OS's and allows CD-r's to replace floppy's...
Drag and drop functionality, auto CDRW reformat (That tripped me up once because one time I put in a blank CDRW and it said no media so it took me a while to figure that out) auto multisession, all through windows explorer drag and drop, and the ability to create bootable floppies... *nice*...
