Which case to get?

Unless you have money to burn, check out the Rocketfish by Lian Li case at your nearby Best Buy stores. Large aluminum case for $120. or less depending on the store - down to $48 at some. There are a couple of threads in C&C on it. But of the ones you list, probably the 690. But I think I'd like the new 590 even better.

i'd take this case easily over any of the cases u have listed.. quality is unmatched...

haven't had any antecs but i heard their doors like to break in the p18x series and generally are mediocre quality
i CAN comment on thermaltake cases and can say that they suck in the quality department. they have sharp edges on the inside cutting your hands (and wires) while you're working and use cheap plastics where possible (front panel..etc)

i've had a cooler master centurion 5 and the quality there was also decent only.

my current LL is a beast i've build and rebuild over 5 systems in it in the last few years and its still in 9/10 condition. nothing scratched, bent, cracked.. etc.

I'd sacrifice some quality for looks :D. Don't really like the look of the Lian Li. Would like to find a balance between the two though. The Stacker 830 looks pretty easy to work with. I'd get that if I can find a cheap price. Cheapest I've found so far is $180 without shipping. As for the Antec 900, Cm 690 and Antec P182, which is the better out of the three in accessibility and build quality?

What was that case in a thread a while back that had the fan on the underwide of the motherboard tray? I think it was in a "perfect case" thread--that was a nice case!

You obviously want something with some bling factor to it. The four best performing towers for air cooling IMHO are the CM stacker 810, the Antec Nine Hundred, the Silverston TJ-09 and the Lian Li PC-71b. If they're not blingin'(?) enough on their own you can always add a bunch of CCFLs and LED case feet and LED fans and UV sleeved cables. I belive all four are either available with a side window or there is a side-pannel with window availble seperately. If not, email hank at performance-pcs and he'll put a window in it for you.

I'm not sure which thread it was, but my 690 was set up for a 80x15mm fan behind the MB tray.

I could see myself buying any of those cases you listed, save for the thermal take armor and perhaps the cm 830, but only because I don't really like the looks of the cm 830. And I would buy a cosmos S, not the regular one. Some are WAY more expensive then others though. Have a p182 myself and I like it for it's sleek look and because it's really quiet. No problems with the door either, the p180's had 'crappy' doors, I think they fixed it on the p182's.

I have the Antec 900 and like it alot. However out of the box cable management is very weak on it. Of course that can be "fixed" with a hole saw...

Yeah, the 690 and 590 are the only ones I know of with the fan mount under the mobo. Not many are going to follow suit.

Tis a sign of the times though that at least one case has it. It's overkill for most systems and is only good for about 2C on an overclocked CPU but, it shows they're putting some pretty good R&D into a case specifically for the enthusiast.

Since it seems you're dead set on a blingy/ricey case, Take a look at the Tt Shark. It's hard to find now, but it does have a decent basic design. eWiz.com has it in black at the best price I could find in the US (their shipping is often high though. Go to eWiz directly first to check out the bottom line, then go in via Froogle.com and check the bottom line again. The Tt Eureka is harder to find, but it is the same case behind a more conservative face which may hold up better over a long-term ownership.

You mean THIS PERFECT CASE?

Yeah, I got one - it's sitting out in the garage, next to the lawnmower! :D

Anybody wanna buy it?

EDIT

Sorry! My bad!

Actually, it's sitting next to THE SEWER ROUTER...

Right now I'm leaning towards the stacker 830 but open to suggestions on others.

THIS was my idea...

THIS is what I'm running...

I would recommend either one! :)

Vin those cases are 3-4x the price on his list.

:X

My vote goes in the RocketFish case.

I'll tell you what...

I'd have more respect for Lian Li if they called all their cases RottenFishes, RockFishes, or whatever!

As it stands, they're just trying to suck in retards with their stupid upside-down and backwards designs...

It's embarrassing!

I wouldn't for the life of me buy a case as hideous as the mountain mod ufo. For 400$ it better be able to do the same things as a flying saucer :S

I'm with you on that one.

People recommend what they like...

Also what has the most bang for the buck.

I have a 900 on it's way. I did look at the Stacker 830 but the airflow seems wrong to me.

The 900 has 3 x 120 fans blowing air in from the front and two huge fans sucking air out in the back and an optional 120 sucking air out on the side. I think it's a more efficient use of air flow over the stacker and that's why I went with it. On top of that I got it on special for $95.98 where the stacker was more than double that price.

I think for the price it's the best bang for the buck for a gamer o/c type case.
