Which case to choose for new system?

Hey all, I'm putting together a new system in a week or two, and am wondering what case to get. I know the Lian Li cases are good (from reviews and people here) so I am kind of driving myself at the Lian Li V1000 Black case. My previous case was a TT Tsunami black but I was not too happy with the plastic build on the outside (great case aside from that though). I want my system to be nicely cooled.

Are there any other cases out there that I should give serious thought to? Also, I noticed there is a V1000 and a V1000 plus. What is the difference exactly between them? Should I opt for the plus? The V1000 Plus is 45 $ more canadian then the regular V1000.

Specs my system will have:

3500 venice (stock HSF most likely)
7800 GTX
Asus SLI premium
1 gig OCZ gamer ram (3500)
2x250 gig seagate NCQ drives
creative audigy sound card
dvd burner/cd burner

I also plan on putting in a much more powerful CPU in the future, most likely dual core or a high FX cpu...so there will be more heat, but with that Ill get an aftermarket HSF.

Have heard good things about the V1000. It looks a lot like that awesome case that Apple has had. I personally don't know the differences between the "Plus" and regular.

If I could make a suggestion, you should check out the lian-li V1200. It's about two inches deeper than the V1000, and allows for more room for a power supply. You didn't mention yours, so I dunno if it would be a problem or not, but if you want to use a new modular psu, you should be aware that it probably won't fit in the V1000. In response to your question about the "plus" version, it has a cpu duct that attaches to the rear exhaust fan so that you can cover your hsf with it and draw all that hot air immediately toward the rear to be exhausted out the back. It also has a 120mm blower fan that attaches next to the pci slots for additional cooling of your video card and other things.

What about the Cooler Master Stacker case? Never seen it up close so I dunno...but it looks interesting in pics. Anyone have this case? Also is the outside plastic or metal? And does it have a fan blowing air over the vid card on the side panel of the case?

Hmm the Antec looks not bad...but I don't want a case with a closing front panel as I have an external sound blaster audigy face plate in the front and use my remote quite a bit, along with my headphone jack.

Do you guys have any opinions on the regular lian li cases vs the plus versions? Worth extra money? Also what about the Cooler Master Stacker?

I'm kinda in the same boat as you. I really wanted the v1100, but I already have the Modstream so I had to drop that. The Stacker is on my shortlist as well. You might also want to check out the Lian Li pc60-B and Silverstone Temjin06.

Yeah, that silverstone temjin tj06 is another good one. They also just released their tj07, which looks really cool, but I dunno if you can find it anywhere...

The TT Tsunami doesn't have a plastic exterior. You must be talking about the Soprano. The Tsunami has a brushed aluminum door and painted aluminum body. Same interior as the Soprano though.

That said, if you can afford it, go Lian Li.

The front panel (the actual panel that the door hides) is plastic though, so that might be what hes referring to

Only the inside and the front door of the TT Tsunami were metal. The top and side panels were plastic including the see through window. It's a good case, I just found that it got really dusty and you had to be careful with the plastic paint...scratches very easily. What do you guys think of the TT Armor case? Looks kinda like the CM stacker clone.

That's just the thing, I can't find it anywhere (not even on silverstone's website), but MaxPC used it in their mose recent dream machine. It's got room for tons of 5.25 bays, and 9 hard drives. 5 120mm fans and 2 92mm fans. Looks pretty plain in silver, but maybe they have it in black.

Nuts--no details on the MaxPC website. I'll have to go out and buy that issue I s'pose.

I read on another thread here somewhere that the OCZ PSU cable lengths are kinda tight with the P180 since the PSU is in its own compartment.

Just food for thought since he mentioned he has an OCZ.

Ahh, the two 92's are intakes? I was wondering where the intakes were... but wouldn't they draw in the psu's exhaust, especially since it's below them?

Hmm.. serious looks, and good cooling..

If money isnt your problem, check out the TT kandalf.. it is one AWESOME case ive seen in a while.

TT shark, Lian Li-1000, Antec 180 is all good.

But Kandalf is seriously kick ass.. good for external water cooling as well.
