i had no idea that you could unlock a 6200 to a 6600. do you have any linkies for me?

Links nothing! 😉 You can do it straight from RivaTuner. Same way you can take a 6800 to a 6800 GT (underclocked). Anyway, it has to be the NV43 chip though (as I believe all the AGP 6200's are), and not the NV44 (Turbocache). It seems a pity that almost all the passive cooling 6600's I can find are pci-express. Do I have to wait for gigabyte to take the lead here? Ah well - I don't think I can wait much longer! If only there was a socket 754 pci-express (matx) board out. Anyway my CURRENT card is the Unichrome Pro IGP. So no love lost on the upgrade! 😉 Before I had a FX5200 (no need for anyone to ramble about how bad that card is - I know first hand!), but I sold it off awhile in anticipation of my transition. Things got bogged down though - I guess in this case for the better because now I find myself with more options.

more options are always better . . . . now get busy and narrow them down . . . you did get good suggestions here with weight going behind the 6600gt - you know, newer good games with steeper HW requirements are coming out all the time and it doesn't hurt to have something better than a 9600. 😉


edit: BTW, o/c's and unlocking pipes is always a crapshoot . . . . you DO however, void your warranty 😉

Have fun. I have a X800 right now and unless you have a totally silent case, the only way I can here my X800 fan is if i turn it up to 100%. 🙂
