which card should i get?

alright...i've been thinkin about buyin a new card...but i don't have the $ to get anything totally super...so i thought maybe i should ask u guys for some help...I was thinking should i get a ATI radeon 9600 pro 256mb? or a 9600xt 128? i pretty much want to get the better card so i could run my games at a better res. and better frame rate's. the games are unreal tournament 2003 and magic the gathering battlegrounds.

256 mb of ram on that card is useless

look into a 5900 or a 9800 if you have ~$200 to spend

well...im living in canada...so the prices are pretty crappy here, for a 9600xt the lowest price i could find would be about 250$ and for a regular...about 200...if i were to even look at a 9800 i would havta shell out at least double...and im not willing to do that. so what would be your suggestoin around the same prices as a xt or a pro? or if n e of you know a canadian site whare i could get some good prices let me know...

From what I've seen www.PCCanada.com, which is in Toronto I think, always has extremely competetive prices for a Canadian site. I bought an oem Radeon 9800np from them a few months ago. The price was excellent at the time and no problems so far. I've also bought alot from www.ncix.com which is out in B.C. and the service there has always been good.

you can find a 9600 pro for like $220

ya, $220 sounds right. On the question of a Canadian website... I don't believe these guys sell on line, but you could give them a call... I have yet to find a cheaper store for Graphics cards:

A lot of their other stuff is pretty cheap as well, but not always the cheapest... they'll still be in the running for being the cheapest though... at least in Canada.

ncix , if you sign up for their newsletter (or whatever they call it). They often have video cards on special. Also they will usually price match without hassle.

um, very few 9600 pro mem with OC that high cuz they either use samsung 3.3ns OR infineon

it was the very early ones that shipped with samsung 2.8ns but they are impossible to find right now
