Which calculator is more handy for Calculus 1?

I'm pretty familiar with the 83, I know I can get alot more games on the 86 but thats all i know about it. Anyone have experience on what calculator is more applicable towards calculus?

As Mo0o points out, the TI-89 is a better value than the 86. I certainly would NOT buy the TI-83; it's a not a very good calculator compared to the rest of the line, let alone the TI-85 that came before it.

The fact that you can do derivatives and integrals on the calc itself and the fact that you can do those operations without numerical limits is awesome.

everything...

can integrate, differentiate, solve complex system of equations, just ot name a few.

TI-89 is god
1) awesome games, hi-res phoenix!!
2) ability to differentiate/integrate both numerically and symbolically
3) equation solver (sooo useful)
4) lots of other useful tools for all sorts of math courses making it useful for college

The TI-83 will have everything you could possibly need for Calc. 1 No biggie. And the class isnt that hard so dont worry about it 🙂

I really like my TI83+, i really dont like anything between it and the TI89, but the TI89 looks awesome, of course i have not done any real calculas on it, just college algebra, trig and stuff.

Of course, I already own one, so I don't need to buy one.

Well, I'm hearing good things about the 84+ silver, especially in scientific applications. What's your take on that?
I just bought an 89 (which hasn't yet arrived), after previously owning an 85, and was pretty torn between the 89 and 84+ silver, especially given my projected major in some type of natural science.

well I haven't taken any calculus in close to 4 years, for the life of me I don't remember a thing... so with that note I'm brushing up on it, a nice calculator would be handy

Oh the second thought, don't get the 89. You'll learn a lot more without it. Calc I isn't that hard either. You won't need much besides a basic four function.

If not the 89? 84 titanium or the 83+

seriously, you really do not need a calc if you study, do your homeworks, and ask questions. but if want to purchase one, i think anything above a ti-85 (don't know how the new ti-84s are) is good enough. if you just want to play games and do integrations, get the ti-86. if you want to play better games and do integrations, get the ti-89 or the newer ones. just my two cents.

let's just say my calc grade went from an F to a B after i got my 89

professor allowed us to use our calculators for tests LOL
