Which burner should I get? Lite-on 24x or Plextor 24x?

LITE-ON LTR-24102B-01 24x10x40 CDRW - RETAIL $96

PLEXTOR PX-W2410TA-BPS 24x10x40 CD-RW - OEM $147

I am leaning toward the Lite-on cuase its a better deal but Plextor makes great reliable burners... right?

thx

Lite-on is reliable, and cheaper, so I'd probably go with a lite-on, because it does everything that the plextor does I think..

I have the LiteOn and it works great. It has LiteOn's proprietary buffer underrun prevention technology which accomplishes the same thing burnproof does.

The retail Lite On burner you want is only $75 at pricewatch... hope that helps to make you're decision easier - just do a search for:

lite on 24x

Cheers

I have the LiteOn 24x10x40 in this rig and it is a stellar drive. All the reviews I have read have it right up there with the Plextor. Almost half the price as well.....

Lite-On by far. The reviews I've seen have it performing better than the Plex and it's a good deal cheaper. I would venture to say that Plextor's quality is no better or worse than Lite-On's...

I have a lite-on, picked it up for 100 bucks and I havent had a SINGLE problem with it... I'm addicted to it =)

The Plextor is a better drive, but the Liteon is a much better value. I went with a 16x myself, because that extra 8x really doesn't make that big a difference on burn times. I went cheap and got a Cyberdrive 16x12x40. Not compatible with adaptec (I have to use Nero now), not a big deal. About the same performance as a Liteon 16x, both lag behind the Plex, but the Plex was like $140 more! Value or performance, your pick.
