I got a IP3000 for like $40 from Newegg. I've been printing out 8X10's from my D70 camera on glossy photopaper and framing them. Lots of people have seen them and most comments are " The printer cost how much??!!", "Thats from a home printer??!!" and "Photo developing places are gonna go out of buisness"

Just buy a cheap laserjet off of craiglist.

I got a working Xerox laserjet with toner for $15.

The toner has lasted the entire year so far.

Granted the printer is a little old, but it still prints great text.

I like Canons, but whatever you get make sure you get individual ink wells (ie, if it's photo make sure you have one cartridge each for black, magenta yellow, cyan, photo cyan, photo magenta). There's nothing suckier than running out of magenta in a muti-color cartridge, adn having to replace the whole thing. Refilling is an option, but I prefer to buy higher quality, 2nd-hand replacments.

Stay away from HP, IMO. They do everything they can to thwart 2nd hand/refill cartridges. Canon is much more user-friendly when it comes to inexpensive ink options.

So I bought an epson resetter, thanks for the info on that guys. I paid $10 with shipping and reset my color catridges, not only can I print B&W I can print Color as well. I am writing to the MN Attorney General over this situation. I know they make money on ink instead of printers but this is ridiculous.

RE:"That lawsuit already went to court and Epson won. Epson claims running a ink cartridge to empty damages the print heads, thus the epson ink cartridges are programmed never to run completely dry."

LOL, that figures. Anyway, there are other lawsuits against Epson. No thanks.
