Which brand is the best humidifier & air purier?

I don't know about humidifiers but I've always had good luck with Bionaire air filters............ get the Hepa filter........... works great 😀

Cheers,
Aquaman

as far as air purifiers, i ADORE the Sharper Image Ionic Breeze line (own 6 of them). also, they just came out with a germ-removing version (more $$).

Thanks all. Don't really know how big the room is but I just grabs one at sears, "Honeywell 275 CADR HEPA Air Cleaner" for $199. Hope I make the right choice. Read some info from, http://www.allergybuyersclub.com/compare-air.html, but they sure cost alot. Do some reading on Sharper Image Ionic Breeze, and it seem alittle bit out of my price range.

Humidifiers and purifiers are two seperate beasts. If you are talking about portable, just go to Sam's or Costco and get a cheap HEPA filter, and a humidifier.
Know that portable humidifiers must be cleaned once every 5-7 days, and refilled at least once a day. That gets old. However some people get along fine in the Winter by just using the humidifier in their bedroom at night.

If you are in a house, it's better to have the humidifier installed into the forced air system--no cleaning or re-filling.

EDIT: last I remember, you could get HEPA for large room for ~$120 if you shop around. They all work about the same.
EDIT2: Sam's 2 for 1 + remote $139 This includes a built-in ionizer, which can be switched off if desired.

A cheaper smaller one.

I didn't bother looking anywhere else... You can spend more, but you won't get much more for the money.

Like db suggested visit your local CostCo or Sam's Club ... I've seen powerful, quiet HEPA filters with remotes starting at $99.99 up to $249.99

I got a Honeywell 63500 (first round purifier shown) for $80 at Menards (like home depot). It was an outstanding bargain. Its about 15" high and over 12" diameter, uses a Hepa filter (replacements cost $50-$75), and is for a 16'x23' room circulating up to 350cfm allowing it to recycle the rooms up to 6x per hour (or the equivalent of). I bought it a week ago but this model# has been discontinued.

/edit for more info:

If you get a good purifier, be sure to get one with a prefilter, which this has and costs about $5-$10. It will greatly save the life of the main filter. The prefilter is supposed to last about 3 months, and the main filter lasts 1-3 years, depending on usage/air.

/edit:
db's link to the one at Cosco, with the remote, looks like a great deal too. 🙂

eh ozone poison creator, plus it doesn't work well at all. go to the library and look up a consumer reports a couple months back that rated purifiers. ionic breeze of course is dead last😛

i think there was something about cold humidifiers being bad cuz mold can grow.
