Decided on the non-aperature grill Hitachi tube.

$178 to my door.

Final selection down to the monitors in the title :)

I am debating the:

Cornerstone 1460
Viewsonic GS790
Samsung 900NF (odd PCWorld says the 955DF scored better)
Samsung 957mb (does true 4:3 at 1920x1440, but I am not sure if the quality is as good as the NF, PCWorlds #1 pick in the November issue)
NEC FE955
Dell P991/P992
IBM P96/P97

I want to run at 1600x1200, maybe higher. I have a Radeon 8500. I have a Samsung SyncMaster 17GLsi and want something not much deeper than it (17.5 inches roughly), but equal or better image quality.

I would like to be less than $200 if possible (refurb w/ warranty is ok for me) at most $400

Thanks

i moved up from a 17GLsi to a 900NF two years back........ I haven't seen those other monitors in person......but I can assure you that you can't go wrong with the 900NF. Does 1600x1200@85hz fine for me.....but I just don't use it because the fonts are just too small for me. All those flat screens (FDtron, Mitsu NF tubes) look the same to me.....maybe I'm not really picky....but I did want high refresh rates at high resolutions.....so thats why I got the 900NF.

Dell P991 works nicely for me, 1600 x 1200 @ 85, but it's almost 19" front to back, so it might not be what you want.

What about this Compaq P110? Seems to get good reviews too ... only 19.8" deep so it's a shallow 21"

I would love a 19" LCD or that Apple 23" cinema display at $3499.
