Going crazy looking at reviews of motherboards. Main concern is the bios. It appears a lot of boards have old bios and wont post if you put a 6800K CPU into it , so you cant update bios and either need to change the bios chip or send board to get it update . I DONT WANT that happening. I will be rebuilding my ancient Q6600 quad core , so I don't want to get stuck with a motherboard I cant use for a week or longer. The 6800k used the LGA 2011 v3 socket.

This is not a gaming machine its main purpose video editing. I don't want to spend a fortune on the motherboard with features I just don't need or care about. Don't need sli wont use raid don't need wifi.

Any opinions?

Get the X99 Taichi, which is pretty solid motherboard and right now at very decent pricing.

The ASUS X99-A II or X99-Deluxe II has very stable BIOS and highest performance for video editing. You can even put RGB strips to make your desktop look nice while doing video editing.

+1 for X99A II.

I've had it for several months now with 6800K and 64GB of RAM. Asus updates its UEFI once a month or so. All has been fine with this mobo.

I would purchase the GIGABYTE GA-X99-Ultra Gaming, it is setup for 6800k.
