Which blank DVD+R/-R media is best for plain backups?

on this site (the computer store is right at the corner where I live so i'll be getting it there after an afternoon class) which blank DVD media is the best?

ive had really good experiences with blank sony CD's, plus when me and my buddies got tired of em, they were most def the hardest to break. those things were pretty damn tough.

im gonna buy a 50 spindle. (btw, where are all hte 16x blank DVDR's at? I have the BenQ DQ60 burner..)

yeaa so if i dont get many replies im gonna go with the sony. otherwise ive heard some good things bout the 'ritek' discs before

Of those choices, I'd go with the Ridata or Verbatim.

I've had great success with the Ridata 16x DVD+R. I burn all my dvd+r's as DVD-ROMs with my BenQ1620 and they work great. Not a single coaster in a 100 disc spindle.

if i understand it right, you are comparing taiyo yuden with prodisc ? that's like comparing honda and mercedez imo... (if the Taiyo yuden are not fake). And it's easier to analyze the result if you give us the screenshot of cd-dvd speed (use the 'capture' button at the cd-dvd speed title bar) though hot deals forum is not the right place for this. BTW, try scanning @12x or 5x instead 8x, some nec doesn't like to scan @8x and gives lot of errors...

you also might want to try liggydee 1.w8 modified firmware @cdfreaks.com (search in the cdfreaks' nec forum) if you don't mind voiding your warranty...
