Terra 35

Borealis

i would get the terra 35 because it looks cooler but i'm concerned about how it is panel loading.... seems like that would be inconvenient, but i figure they put it there for a purpose. does anybody know if they work okay? i am using this for school btw....

thanks :)

I like both of those, but I would go with the Borealis because it has a pocket in the front. I have a North Face bag now but I don't like the fact that it doesnt have any pocket in the front. It's a strong bag though

Yeah, I just used a Jansport with a padded back. Why the fancy bag for just carrying books?

north face is for wussies, you must be one of those style over substance guys, no way he's engineering, don't be a sheep get something else :), go to rei, get an eagle creek, mountain smith, lowe alpine, or rei. or order from l.l. bean. besides why are you spending $90 for a school backpack, if you go outdoors at all, get a small internal, much more useful.

well you're right, i'm compsci. and i don't think the other brands look as good as north face does... unless you want to prove me wrong (i'll be happy if you do, because then i'll just get that bag).

i spend $90 bucks becuase i feel it's worth it to have a nice bag that looks good.

besides, what makes me more of a sheep, getting a nice looking bag, or not getting it because i'm worried that people think i'm trendy?

The Terra 35 uses WAY better fabrics than the Borealis, which is why it costs more. It will last you longer though. Panel loading rocks. I have a panel loading, internal frame pack that I use for treks and back country camping. Panel loading allows you to get to stuff at the bottom of your bag without having to dig through everything via the top. It's definately a good feature. The Terra 35 is also a bit bigger in volume...not that anyone really needs a 2000 cubic inch pack to get to class. ;)

lol, i was thinkin the same thing... but make sure you have a helmet clipped onto the back of your back pack too... that makes you look super hard core ;)

heh, i'm sorry if i came off hostile, i'm just kidding. i'm just questioning whether you have done enough research, since you didn't list bags other than north face, thereby being trendy. if that's what you want, get it. here's some links with other backpacks.

i'm sure you have numerous camping stores in seattle though.

Dude... that doesn't look good. I see guys with those backpacks sometimes on campus and I laugh inside because they look so goofy.

I think those are overpriced for a school/book bag... Panel loading is actually more convenient (compared to top loaders), but they are generally weaker under load.

i like arcteryx packs. They are a worthy competitor to North Face, but I believe they use far better craftsman ship and materials as they are made in canada and not in the east like northface and their cheap labor.

Check www.arcteryx.com Packs are on there
