How's the Galaxy's battery life compared to, say, the Droid X? I know the X blows my Evo out of the water in that regard, but that doesn't take much.

There seems to be mixed reviews as far as this goes. Some reviews I read say its very close to equal with the Droid X, however most show that its not quite as good. I think it depends on how you use it.

I only know one person personally who owns it so can't quote real world like others here might be able to, but my friend quotes this review saying that he can get through a full day if he isn't on it all day doing stuff. Similar to what I've heard said about the EVO if you don't use it too much or don't have 4G in your area.

None of the above.

Samsung has the GPS issue, I'd hold off on buying one because Google Navigation is one of my main reasons for having anything Android

Streak is an abortion by Dell, Android 1.6, and the developers haven't had a good run at it yet, hate the bezel.

Nexus One has it's own list of problems and is currently out of stock.

Honestly, I'd get an iPhone 4 on ATT, or wait a bit for some better Android offerings...

Puddle Jumper should of been the only one I quoted. He honestly believes that the captivate is so superior it makes the iPhone "looks like crap next to the Captivate's screen." LOL

If I'm a troll, at least I'm not a cave troll that never goes outside. Some of us need to see our phones when we leave the house..

I don't need a review to tell me what the screens look like, I've compared them in person. I'm extremely picky when it comes to displays and if I didn't think the Captivate had the better screen I wouldn't have bought it. Also the S-AMOLED screen on my Captivate isn't that hard to read in sunlight, sure it could be better but the same is true for every other mobile device I have used.

Ugh, I hate hearing about the gps issue. Some people have had problems with it, but the majority of people have not.
Mine (Vibrant) works fine. Sure it doesn't work when I'm on the 1st floor of a 30 story building, but who needs GPS INSIDE?
I also like how people try to defend one product over another without ever having used one or both products. they base their opinions on other peoples opinions.
OP. Go to the store and look at the phones. Get what you want. I looked at iPhone 4, The Galaxy S, and the Garmin phone, and for me, The Galaxy S did what I wanted and had a better screen. I just went with the Vibrant so I could stay with T-mobile as their plans are way better priced than ATT.

Just make sure the brightness is cranked up and you can read it fine in the sun. With it at it's dimmest setting it's hard to make out, when outside, but when I leave my cave and go outside, I'd rather not keep staring at my fashion statement iPhone and be on the look out for cars and such when I cross the street, and when I'm driving. Since, you know My mom stopped driving me everywhere 20 something years ago.

I have the brightness on mine to automatically adjust to the surroundings. So when I step outside the brightness cranks up on its own and the screen is viewable as if I were indoors. When I go back indoors the brightness dials down to save battery juice and is optimally viewable.

Glad to see so many people recommend the captivate. I just ordered one today since my phone is eligible for an upgrade. I'm coming from a POS dumb phone and have never used a cool phone before so I really don't know what to expect.

What are the websites for new droid users? Where can i get info about rooting/hacking and other fun stuff?
