Which are better speakers.....

Altec Lansing ADA 305 Digital PowerCube Speaker System, USB
Creative Labs Desktop Theater DTT 2500 Digital Speaker System
Creative Labs FourPointSurround FPS2000 Digital Speaker System
Midiland S4-7100 Speaker System

in terms of sound quality:
ADA 305

Best overall:
DTT2500 - can't 5 speakers & a dolby digital decoder

I'd have to go with the 5.1 S4 7100. I heard em in person and they are excellent. A 5.1 setup may not be the best for gaming though. I've heard that the Creative speakers lack power and sound like tin cans🙂

here's how I rank them no matter for what specific purposes

S4 7100
DTT2550
FPS2000 and ADA305

ADA880 is like 130 buck in compgeeks or some other store.

Forget the 880's. They may be a 4 speaker setup, but the rears only work with a digital source (IE DVD player). I had a pair of the ADA305's and they were excellent speakers. The Creative 2500's suck, period. Weak bass and harsh treble... I haven't heard the Midilands though...

The 2500's do not suck at all. I have them and have compared them to the Klipsch Promedia V.400 that my friend has and while the Klipsch are louder the quality isn't necessarily better. I rarely need to turn my sound up beyond halfway so they are plenty powerful enough to play games/DVDs and sound pretty damn good. If you can get them for 150-200 they are a great set of speakers, especially if you have the SB Live.

keep the comments comming...i still have to decide

These are for everything, gaming, music, dvds.....i have a Dj setup with turntables, and i will hook these to it every once in a while too
