Hi!

I am looking at a good sturdy case, don't need a PSU I already have an excellent Enermax 350w PSU, I don't care about the weight, as I won't be moving it much. I live in India and I will be picking it up from Local Antec Retailer

I spoke to the ppl there and they tell me that they could get me pretty much any Antec Case I need even the ones not listed on the site.

AMD Athlon XP 1533MHz
Motherboard: Epox 8RDA+
Memory: 256 MB of Samsung PC2100
Video Card: Ati Radeon 8500LE (Ati )
Hard Drive: Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 40.0 GB @ 7200 RPMS
52x CD-ROM

I will probably add a DVD-RW drive in the future and a Raptor but that's about it.

Please let me have your suggestions.

Thanks in advance

I'd go for the Antec 3700 (or Chieftec/ChenMing/Compucase equivallent) if you could get w/o the PSU. Usually easier to get the Chieftec versions of those cases w/o PSU.
. Those prices on that website are in some other currency than US $s though I don't know what country TN stands for, perhaps Thailand...

Thank you for your replies guys,

Mech the prices are in Indian Rupees, 6791 is roughly USD$150
and btw TN stands for Tamil Nadu, It's a state in South India :)

P.S. 1USD=Rs. 47

LOL :)

I am decided to go with the 1000 PlusView, btw can you tell me how the drive rail system works? I currently have a cheap-ass Kobian $10 Case and have no idea what drive rail is.

Sure, go down the page most of the way on Mikhailtech's review of an Antec SX1240 and you'll see a CD-ROM drive with the rails screwed to the sides. The photo to the right shows it slid into the case. The floppy drive is shown mounted in the slide-in tray there as well. The PlusView 1000 is essentially set up the same, except that you don't have to remove the whole bezel to slide drives in and out.

Tornado54, you can't go wrong with any ANTEC case. I have 3 of them. SX1030 (with 430w ps), SX1040(420w ps) & the Koolance PCw-601BW ( which looks like a ANTEC case(430w ps).

Shop around for the cheapest shipping, Antec's are heavy, but quality inside and out. The drive cages are levered so you can take the out of the case. All the edges are rounded, no cut fingers.

ANTEC=QUALITY.

wow I can't believe the 1000AMG plusviews are so popular...I got one because I got it dirty cheap (staples deal, got it for like $10 or $20 shipped a few months ago). I passed on the lanboy because it looked kinda blah..

Here is my 1000AMG code named "Blue Fantasy" Best case I've ever owned, and i'll continue to mod it. The rail system is awesome. There plastic rails that you screw to your devices and then you can slip unclip then and slide them out the front of the case. The drive bays use a switch mechanism that lock them in. To take them out, undo the latch and out comes the drive bay and HDD. Simple as that

actually, here's what I did..

there were some free-after-rebate goods at staples (and you know staples, they're awesome with rebates)..PLUS there was a $50 off $200 coupon. I bumped my total up to $200, used a $50 coupon, so everything was about $159 after tax (plus $130 back in rebates)...that's $29 right there. Then, I pricematched it with some vendor on pricewatch and got $10-$15 back...that's a net total of $14-$19.

Also, placed another order with the same coupon and got 6 antec tri-light fans for free after rebates :)
(wished I got solid colors instead of tri-lights, but this doesn't look *too* bad)

My Performance II Workstation tower is serving me well... I don't know how into looks you are, but if you don't need a side window and little door for the front drive bays, you could save some money and still get a quality, functional case. I believe it's been phased out by Antec, but you can probably still find them.

Allright - I'm trying to make up my mind on an Antec case as well, I've narrowed the decision down to:

Antec Plus 1080AMG Performance Plus SOHO File Server (no window) with PSU
Antec PlusView 1000AMG SOHO File Server (has window) without PSU

Now, what are the differences between the two except that one has a window and/or PSU and the other one doesn't.

As far as I can tell, these two servers look exactly the same minuse the window on the side. So what's the difference between 1080AMG and 100AMG?
