Hello
I scored a free motherboard today and i just got my Radeon 9600XT but i need a chip to go with my motherboard.

The CPU will need to be grunty enough to at least run say..WoW and last me 2-3yrs. Im used to lacklustre performace on my 1.2Ghz ive had for 4yrs almost so which chip would be good to get to last me a while?
Im thinking maybe a 2400 or 2600+ ..i do not have alot to spend.. 200$AUD MAX which is around half that in USS

Cheers for advice..

PS. No AMD64 or anything which will require a board upgrade. im a poor bloke =p

What board did you get?

The Mobile Bartons are really popular right now I'd go with a 2400 or 2500, otherwise grab a 2500 (desktop).

Of course, the mobile chips are just if you want to overclock. Otherwise get a 2500+ or 2600+ desktop chip.

Not entirely true. They are great if heat wil be an issue w/ a setup as well. (SFF, HTPC or poor air circluation w/ ATX for example)
