Which AMD DDR board?

The Epox 8K7A or 8K7A+ are great boards. Another nice board, although harder to find and a little more expensive, is the Gigabyte GA-7DXR. A third option is the MSI K7 Master. All three of these motherboards use the AMD761 northbridge, and are probably the top performing DDR boards out right now. If you are planning on doing some overclocking, the Epox or the Gigabyte are the best choices. If your primary concern is overclocking, the Epox is probably the best choice. If you just want to build a system that will be run @ stock speeds..any of the three will be a good choice. The best thing to do is research these boards and see what board's combination of features and performance best fit your needs, and choose that one. Any of the three are great boards and will perform well. 🙂
 
I'm going to issue a caution against the Epox board. Although it is now up and running with the 1200 cpu clocking at 1342 seemingly effortlessly, it was a pain to set up. The manual was wrong and the dip switch that you use to set the multiplier has a problem. One of the settings causes the board not to boot. That is why I'm running at 1342. I could run at less than 1000 but I don't want to. The setting for 1200 ( I think the multiplier is 9 or 9.5) is the one that causes it not to boot.

I saw you post this earlier. There are no issues with the multiplier dip switch bank on the 8K7A. I have used 7 through 12 with no problems. Are you sure your CPU is unlocked? Maybe you have a defective board. My point is that just because your one board is maybe having an issue is no reason to caution against anyone getting the board. If this was a known issue or was being encountered by more than just you, I would agree, but it's seems real short sighted to tell someone not to get a board just because you have had some problems. It appears you have just built this system recently...am I right? If you are trying to use the default multiplier, you should not set the dip switch to it, you should have all 5 switches off so that it uses the default CPU multiplier. You might encounter problems trying to override the default multiplier with the same one...LOL!
