It's been a year or two since I've been in the loop and it seems alot has changed.

I'm building a computer for my office.

Uses:

Quickbooks Premier 2007
Office 2007 ultimate
Windows Vista Ultimate
email/internet surfing
Photoshop

I'm looking for a cpu in the low $100 range.

I considering:

AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Orleans 2.4GHz 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor - Retail
For $94.99

Or will dual core be a better choice. I feel maybe not.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Windsor 2.0GHz Socket AM2 Processor Model ADA3800CUBOX - Retail
For $109.00

I'd get the dual core. In an office environment you'll always be multi-tasking, you'll probably have all of the programs listed above open at the same time quite often. With a dual-core CPU, the system ist faster in switching between applications, there's less noticeably less delay when using alt+tab. The extra $14 will be well-spent.
