Which altec lansing to get ?

HI ,
I need some opinion on altec lansing 4100 enhance / 5100 enhance series. Which is the best to buy ? ANyone has experience with these 2 speakers?

5100 is a bigger number, so your best bet is with them.

We normally carry the 2100 / 5100's in our shop and we love 'em. The sub is pretty decent and the neodymium drivers work well on mids and highs without washing out except at extreme volumes. If you can give them a test drive at a local shop, do so.

The 4100's are the same system sans a center channel and some additional connections. The backplate / mainboard on the subwoofer and the addition of more satellites and center channel is all that differs between the 2100 / 4100 / 5100 series. The sub and sats are otherwise identical and the soundstage is the only difference.

I bought the Altec Lansing 2100 and when I compared them with a friend's 5 year old Altec Lansing (forgot the model), they sounded horrible. I exchanged them for the 621 model and I am much happier!
