Ive been real happy with the abit motherboards in the past.. currently using the BE6-II with a 566 @ 850 and 768mb pc133 sdram

I figure my next upgrade will be to the 1.6a.. but cant decide which board I want to look at

I could use a BL7.. that way I could still use my current memory

or I was considering looking into the SD7 or BD7.. and moving to ddr

or even going to the TH7.. and using rambus

Im not crazy about rambus.. and I wanted to use my sdram.. but I feel that the sdram would bottleneck the performance once its overclocked..

Im planning to run the chip overclocked to 2400.. i doubt Ill try to push it up much higher then that.

I guess I could probably sell my 768mb of sdram and buy a single 512 ddr or 512 RDRAM chip.. probably get better performance that way..

just need suggestions on which way would be easier to run, and better to overclock?

SDRAM would be a major bottleneck running the CPU at default speed. DDR or RAMBUS is the only way to go with the P4.

As you can tell by my username, I am not an Abit fan, but I have read a few post here from Abit users stating that they wish they hadn't bought an Abit board for overclocking the P4 due to some problems with the board. I can't remember the model or the users, but there are many threads under the CPU overlocking section where people talk more about the motherboards and there is a very large thread with many users discussing their overclocks. Most are getting the best overclocks from the Asus P4B266.

yea.. i considered the asus.. but isnt that the via chipset?
I havent heard anything but bad stories about the via chipset.. the constant crashes and the current lawsuit

I definitly think Im going to go with one of the ddr systems.. since Im pretty sure I can sell my 3 256mb pc133 sdram chips for about the price of 1 512mb 2100 ddr chip.. and i would assume 1 512 ddr will run better then 768 of pc133 sdram.

Im a big abit fan because of how well the be6-II motherboard has been to me... this board is great.. every option known to man, and extremely easy to work with, without having to play with jumpers.
