Thanks for the replay, but Venice/San Diego are both s939. I am interested in s754....so which is better clawhammer or newcastle?

clawhammers are fx55 rejects?? and they have a locked 512kb cache?? have i been living in a cave?

i thought clawhammers have 1mb cache and they dont clock as high as newcastles last i heard..

for example 3400+ new @ 2400mhz 512kb vs 3400+ claw @ 2200mhz with 1mb cache (where is this locked 512kb of cache?)

for most things, extra 200mhz > extra 512kb cache

hmm seems i was mistaken .. im not to sure on the old stuff anyway .. just somthing i read or thought i read a little while ago

never mind 🙂

If you're planning on purchasing this, then realise that the s754 is a dieing platform. s939 is the platform that is planning to be the replacement for the socket A.

I don't have any reason to go s939...I can get a faster mhz cpu cheaper then s939, cheaper mobo, a video card that I would use for pci-e for a cheaper price, and allowing me to get a better hsf for the cpu. I don't plan on goiong to dual cores for atleast another year and a half and by that time I ill probly want a new mobo anyway.
