WHich 760GTX to get Asus vs EVGA?

I am trying to choose between these two premium cards and can't determine which has the upper hand.


EVGA GeForce GTX 760 SC w/ ACX Cooler

or


ASUS GeForce® GTX 760 DirectCU II
P/N GTX760-DC2OC-2GD5

I can order either from Amazon for $260. Maybe you experts here can help find an edge on one of these? TIA

I would go gtx 760 evga sc acx.

There basically the same. From reviews I read, the evga sc acx is one of the highest performers out of the 760 lineup (maybe a frame or two better) along with the Windforce model. Followed by the msi gaming 760.

Personally, I went with a blower style since I will sli my 760 soon.

I'g go with eVGA. I've got 2 eVGA GTX 460 1GB that I've had for well over 3 years in SLI and they are both heavily overclocked and still going strong.

Before my 2 GTX 460 1GB I had 2 Asus 8800GT 512MB SLI and they gave me nothing but problems until they died a premature death.

Asus makes great motherboards but stay away from their GPUs. eVGA all the way.
 
I'd have to differ here. While you really can't go wrong with either one, I think the DC2 is a slightly better cooler than the SC ACX. I'm using the GTX 780 SC ACX at the moment and i'm certain I would trade it for the DC2 780 if given the opportunity - My opinion is based on PCB quality and load noise of the GTX 780 variants, however, in which I favor the DC2 780 - i'm not sure what changes Asus made with their 760 version. Don't get me wrong -- both coolers are excellent. However, if you're incredibly nitpicky about absolute load noise I think the DC2 is slightly better in that respect, and asus also usually has higher quality PCBs (not sure if this applies to that 760, but definitely does with the 780).

Neither of these cards are better or worse than the others in terms of overclocking. EVGA sends golden cards out to reviewers, so take that with a grain of salt. Don't pay attention to the OC a reviewer gets because chances are, you will never match it. That applies to both EVGA and Asus.

So with that i'd said i'd choose the asus over the EVGA. But as I mentioned earlier, they're both good cards and you cannot go wrong with either.

EVGA all the way. Alto ASUS is #1 in motherboards they are not the top in the GPU game.

EVGA only makes cards with nvidia. EVGA doesnt make ATI cards. Plus the fact for about 6 years now my 8800 GT is still tickin...
 
I have yet to have anything bad to say about USA EVGA customer service.
Everytime i needed a RMA, it was quick and done.
They offer Advance RMA so you can cross ship the failed item.

Ive had to sit on ASUS a couple of times during RMA on the lower end stuff.
They have limited Advance RMA as well... sometimes not offering it all.
There not bad in all sense tho.
On the higher end stuff, there CS is actually quite good.

as for quality... again... it would have to depend on how high quality the ASUS was.
On the higher end stuff... ASUS has some REALLY NICE stuff..
(i dont think eVGA's FTW can go up against the top tier RoG gear.)

On the medium end, id say there about equal.

On the lower end, id say EVGA has better quality then ASUS low end.

Does asus have a low-end pertaining to GPUs though? They don't release 27 SKUs as does EVGA - they generally release only a reference model and then a factory overclocked DC2 model. Every DC2 model i've used has been super impressive, and the 780 DC2 is even more so considering that Asus finally switched to a double slot design (instead of triple).

As I said though, both the ACX and DC2 coolers are good. Can't go wrong with either one. Having used the ACX 780, though - my personal opinion is that the DC2 is a bit better especially if the card in question has a non ref PCB (the 780 dc2 does, I believe the 760 may be reference).
 
Thanks for all the replies, I went with the numbers and ordered the EVGA one. I had my own experience with their RMA process, back when I had a 8800GT, I remember praying that they didn't have any more 8800GT's and praying they sent me a newer card to replace it. But they still had some.
 
The Direct CU II Is a good cooler but unless you go for the Top (if there is one) or OC edition then Asus is likely to have binned the GPU in the lesser bin, giving you less overclocking potential.
 
I would go with the Gigabyte version, the card is using same GTX 680 PCB and 6pin + 8pin power,WF3 cooler and the highest stock OC'ed. The highest GTX 760 quality you can find and same price.

I too would go for GB WF3 760 or MSI TF. These are the best coolers on my opinion.

I'd go with Asus. I had an Asus GTX 770 2 GB which I stupidly swapped for the Gigabyte GTX 770 4 GB model because I only upgrade every 3 to 5 years so I wanted to "future proof" a bit more by going with 4 GB of VRAM. The Asus was perfect. The Gigabyte had bad coil whine. I exchanged with the retailer for another, the replacement had even worse coil whine. This time I did a RMA direct to Gigabyte and now I'm stuck in RMA hell. They've had my card for over a week. It's pretty clear to me that Asus uses higher quality components. EVGA is pretty good too, but seems overpriced compared to other brands. I'd go Asus and call it a day.
 
Have always had good experiences with Evga,its been my go to brand for higher end nvidia cards.

Would not consider a stock blower style reference cooler for a 600 series or 700 series,have had 3 and personally their my last.

Strange, is that the Gigabyte windforce version? Ive owned 2 Gigabyte gtx 670s windforce (both the 2 & 3 fan versions) & they were the quietest coolers ive ever owned.
