which 60GB SSD is the fastest ""real world" available now?

it depends on what you're going to use it for. if nothing in particular, just get the cheapest you can find you probably won't notice any difference between SSDs for normal usage anyway

The small SSDs have really bad value imo. In the 20-60GB area the cost is always around $100-120. Yet you can get a 120GB Vertex 2 for $159 after rebate from newegg this week.

Hello lxr, and welcome to AnandTech Forums.

This.

If you really want "fastest" then you need to look at larger than 60GB because no drive at that capacity is as fast as the "same" drive at larger capacities.

If you really need to get only a 60/64GB SSD, then look for one based on the Sandforce 2200 series controller, or one based on the Marvell controller. Basically, the same as any other capacity SSD for "fastest."

Oh yeah, BTW you better have SATA 6G ports on your motherboard because if you don't, your SATA ports will hold back your performance with the SSDs based on the controllers I mentioned.
