I was looking at the logitech z-5500s, shown here.

I am building my new system, and I value sound quality over "hearin' my shiz thump"
I am using an MSI neo-4 platinum SLi mobo, so I have onboard 7.1.

Anyone know of any speakers that are a better bang for the buck than these, or have any other suggestion?

all of the computer 5.1 speakers have limited sound quality. The best one out of the top 3 would be the Klipsch. Other contenders are the logetech and Cambridge Soundworks.
 
Logitech Z-680's got raves of good reviews... maybe take a look.
Can find them for cheap nowadays 🙂

Right now I use the Z-560's and they'r awesome.
