Which 22" widescreen?

My old trusty (until this morning) CRT died on me so I'm looking for a new monitor. My budget is ~$400 and for that I've found that 22" WS are within reach.

So what I've come up with are (prices are in Denmark so it might be higher than US)

Samsung 225bw $410
Acer AL2216WD $360
Fujitsu Siemens SCALEOVIEW L22W-3 $430
Mirai DML-522W100 $360

The monitor is the most important computer component buying decision, all to often it is an afterthought.
I just upgraded my 10 year old 19" monitor (I payed $800 for it), not because it died or wasn't great quality, but after ten years I was ready for another 8 - 10 years with kick ass large LCD.

the hp2207w is the same price as the 226bw, so it could be an option..... is it better?

Ok, after reading some threads at HardOCP it seems that the hp w2207 is the one to get. Thanks for pointing me in that direction 🙂

Find a 2405fpw or 2407 for $400-500 on Craigslist. I've seen 3 in the past few months, one of which I bought.

Edit: Oh, you live in Britain. They probably tax you for looking at Craigslist and consider buying used stuff anti-social behaviour.

That new HP is nice if it's available in Denmark. I went to CC over the weekend to look at the 22"s. The text was really blurry on the LG, looked a little better on the Samsung 226. Between the 2 I would buy the Samsung. The HP did look better, but it was hooked up to one PC via DVI, the other were on a splitter connected to about 15 other monitors, and using analog. They had the Acer and viewsonics as well, the acer is definitely out. I wish there was somewhere that carried the wm20gx2 so I could see it to justify the extra $200.

I looked at lots of lcd's and came down to sammy and hp and there was no question as which was better to me. I got the hp.

Denmark.... but yeah outside US, and I don't really want the hassle with international shipping, customs and no guarantee. At least all products have a minimum of 2 years guarantee over here.

The HP is exactly the same price as the 226bw and we have now put an order up for the w2207. So thanks for the help everyone. 🙂

I voted samsung 225b, as I got one a couple of weeks ago. I really like, but haven't tried those others and probably would really like them also.
