Really, I have a widescreen hdtv and I'm wondering who really sits in front of their computer to watch a movie?
I considered a widescreen monitor, but the Samsung 204b is much sharper than the 22 inchers I was considering. The dot pitch is smaller which makes it sharper, which some may or may not like.

One big WHEW!! I FINALLY got one that appears to have no dead pixels!!! I decided to get another Gateway since I liked the first one so much. The tech at best buy said he only found one Stuck or Dead on the LG but I saw more than that. The stuck red one was obvious on boot up. I'm really happy with best buy and their geek techs. The dude was very cool and on this gateway we ran a pixel test right in the store before I left. I now have it at home at it's looking good. Man I love the gateway!! For only $20 more than the LG and you get USB, Component,Svideo, composite and PIP. Not a bad deal at all. Sure hope it holds up. I'm going to have to take the Chimei back next weekend since that place is clear across town. Too bad the Chimei did't get a chance from the get-go with all those dead pixels. Oh well, hope this has helped someone/somehow for furture purchases.

IF you buy this monitor though you should check which panel they are using. I ended up with an S type (if you look on the back after the Samsung 226BW[R] there will be some spacing and it will either say A or S). The S type is a Samsung panel and is vastly superior quality to the A type which is an AOC panel, from the reviews I have read. The S panel has very little backlight bleed when its a completely black screen, and its only noticable if there are no lights on, if lights are on in the room then backlight bleed cannot be seen. Colors are great as well, if you have a chance to get an S type monitor then go with the samsung 226bw, if not then the LG L226WTX has the next best screen.

EDIT: Didn't realize you had purchased the screen, if you end up returning it and looking at something else as it appears you may do, then consider either the LG or the Samsung, both have 2ms response time (gray to gray, no idea what this means, and I think that the monitors actual response is 5ms as with other panels), and both are the "second generation" of the 22" tn panel monitors.

Not sure about the S and A myth, but it seems like a lot of people might be going paranoid over the A panel for nothing. From hard, probably where you read about it too, few have actually done side by side comparisons. The rest might just be extra extra picky because they heard it was 'worse'. Wonder what they do with all the returns...
