i am in the market for a new monitor. the old 17" dell just isn't cutting it anymore, plus the parents need it back for their comp. defintely want a flat screen (not lcd, just flat screen crt). what would you all recommend. don't really want to spend more than $300 US, but i would be willing to splurge a little if it was worth it. all opinions and replies appreciated...

Hi, please do a SEARCH for best 19 and select general hardware. I am sure you will find what you are looking for.

There are many threads and hot deals for 19" monitors. I'm using the Samsung 900NF. It's a great monitor but has some trouble running at 1600X1200.

The absolute best 19" monitor is the LaCie Electron 19 Blue iii.

was in the same predicament a while ago (but the 17" screen I have was going to my second computer for MCSE studying/networking). Anyways, I thought the Sony G400 or G420 looked hot and I found a deal at directron.com (a daily deal... maybe they will ahve same one coming up soon) for a G520 with Dell written on it for $399 ($31 more than a G400 on pricewatch.com). Ordered it an can't be happier... get a 21" if you can find a sweet deal like this one.. also go with trinitron falt displays... IMHO they are the sharpest image going.

hi,

have the same question.

Please...note the the original poster said he doesnt want to spend more than $300 !

The Samsung 900NF comes cheapest at around $350 (pricewatch)...add $45 shipping and you're at $400, which is way out of range !

I dont know if there is a local shop where you could pick up an NF for $350, this would be an solution - but BB eg. sells the way cheaper 955DF already for $319...they probably want a fortune for the NF !!!

So..the old question: Which 19" in the $300 range, +/- a few bucks...

The Samsung955DF ? Is it a good monitor for the money ? No...please dont compare it to $800 monis..i mean "for the money" :)

I would want to get the Samsung 950p so badly....but there is no place on this planet selling this monitor anymore, would be my first choice actually. Cheap, and great reviews/image quality.

Besides of that i dont have much knowledge of brands..especially 'cheaper' ones in the $300 range. Here at work i have a Optiquest(==viewsonic) Q95..which is exceptionally cheap..around $260...i am quite satisfied with it and would consider getting it too, maybe...

thanks !!!

I am also looking for a 19 or 21 inch monitor. This one seems to be the one I am going to go for. I don't think there is another monitor in its price range that can compete. It has a Trinitron FD tube.
