Buying any monitor is really a personal thing, however I`m very happy with my Samsung 191T ,especially since it has no dead pixels and looks awesome in DVI mode.

I just bought the 191T for $611 and could not be happier. I have seen many discussions on blurring/ghosting but I have been playing Unreal on it and have not seen any at all. It is bright enough that I had to turn it down and all images are vibrant. I would definately suggest it.

IMO, any LCD (Name Brand) that has less than 25ms response rate is a winner. All of the above and name brand. I would pick any of them. As long as you can find a good price on them.

Eizos. Thin siding (comes in handy in a dual display), no crappy built in speakers, no dead pixels.

Planar PX191-Great display,Great warranty. If you have some time, wait for one of the Dell deals.

191T. Mine is the single best computer purchase I've ever made. It's a stunning monitor. Super clear, vibrant picture. DVI input is the only way to go, it blows the analog input out of the water. I got mine when they first came out and paid over $1100 for it and have absolutely zero regrets.

Not strictly true. You must consider the returns policy and dead pixel policy when buying an LCD IMO. :)

I agree with Shaggas' comment. Some manufacturers will not replace LCD's with dead pixels until a certain number or percentage of pixels have died.

Dead pixels can be a nuisance, especially if near the middle of the screen.

I believe Philips offer replacement even if ONE pixel is dead! Therefore I would suggest you consider Philips 190B4 series LCD's as an option also.

However, I am currently purchasing a Philips 19" LCD model 190B4CG, but the two monitors (original, and then replacement) I had received had faulty screens due to rough handling (the screens had damaged pixels due to excess pressure being applied on the screens). So much for quality control?

So I am now waiting for a second replacement.

19" LCD's are 1280x1024. That's gonna look pretty coarse. (Aside from cost) I don't understand why there no 19" TFT panels at 1600x1200!

I believe Dell has one of the better price/performance solutions right now, the 1901FP. Even though the PX191, 191T/192T, 1901FP and 1900FP are all essentially the same monitor, the 1901FP has the newest signal processing and is actually available (unlike the hard to find 192T). Also, Dell likes to run a lot of insane rebates so you can usually snag an awesome deal on it.

Cheers,

Kristopher
