subtitle says it all

newegg with rebate and promo code makes the lg L1980U under $500

and the viewsonic vp912b is $536 shipped

the look pretty similar took

does anyone have either of these, i like to play games so response time is crucial, but i need a bigger LCD (i currently still have a 17" hitachi), i also want a brighter one than the one i have now that has super crisp image quality, i know viewsonic is an awesome brand but i'm curious about the LG electronics brand

any input? i know the list price for the LG is higher than the viewsonic, so thats why i'm asking

need input ASAP, if i go with the LG i want to use the rebate and coupon

It is a matter of personal choice - the ViewSonic spec on brightness is considerably higher. I have a pair of ViewSonic 19 inchers, and they have been perfect running for almost 2 years now - not a dead pixel between them.

Suggest doing a Google on each and adding the word Review so you can compare several lab tests in addition to the subjective opinions you'll find here.

Anyway - it's a bump. :)

I'm using th Viewsonic VX910 and even thought it has a 16ms reponse time, it's awesome. In a year I'll most likely shop for one that has a 8/12ms response time. I notice a tiny bit of ghosting. Darn good buy, 19" LCD for $400. I think dell has the 20" widescreens for $350 something.

I have the LG Flatron 1710B. 17" 16ms panel. Absolutely wonderful piece of technology with little ghosting on a rare occaision and no dead pixels whatsoever after over 8 months of operation.
