sick of GNC ripping me off. i was lookin on fatwallet and found some decent deals on Optimum protein. anyone ever try these? are these as good as the GNC brand protein? what protein do u guys use?

Optimum is fine. DO NOT get strawberry. Consider yourself warned. Their chocholate and vanilla are good though. If you have an Ultimate Nutrition store locally I'd highly recommend prorated. Cheap as hell and tastes like an orgasm feels.

i dont care too much about taste. i care more about how effective it is. GNC wasnt too bad IMO. it never made me gag
 
I use the MET-Rx brand, but that's because I got a bunch at half price. I'm about out so this is a good thread. Keep it up!
 
I use GNC ProPerformance Whey Protein (Vanilla). The taste is OK. I try to down it as fast as possible, not sit their and emjoy the shake. However, I just started woking out and the GNC brand is the first time I took protein shakes. Can't really complain, but I have seen a small difference in my physique and its been 5 weeks so far.

After I finish the GNC protien, I will go for OptiumNutrition vanilla Whey Protein. I've heard great reviews about the vanilla flavor.
 
I've never used Optimum, but I think a hell of a lot of people over at the discussfitness.com forum use it. They seem to like it, so why not?

I'm also tired of paying for GNC's whey, what online shops do you guys use? 😕

This place has real good stuff... they are the official supplier of the cubs or something I think. Just check out the site, and see how freakin' ridiculously crazy some of their formulas are... (you can even customize your own) I just use the men's low carb, cuz im atkins-ing, but supposedly the normal stuff doesnt taste too bad. My personal philosophy is this: good tasting protein shakes = the equivalent of lifting with a bowflex. If it's good stuff, it won't taste like candy. I've gained quite a bit of muscle mass since using their formula, as compared to using the general no-name crap I bought at the local vitamin outlet.
 
I reccommend Optimum Nutrition 100%!! This stuff tastes freakin amazing, and I've had good results using it. It isn't really overly expensive either.
 
I use the BodyTech brand from the Vitamin Shoppe. It's fine and low on carbs. Taste is a big factor in the protein that I buy. If it's not drinkable then forget it. I've switched to Nitrotech currently and it tastes alright but doesn't mix all that well.

I've tried EAC and Designer Protein, both vanilla.

EAC tastes awesome.

Designer Protein taste isn't great but is easily the most effective for me.

You would if it was strawberry. There is a good chance they've redone that flavor, but it used to taste like a cup of chemicals. It was bad.

 
If anyone is interested, found a guy on another board's fs/t forum selling 2 5lb. tubs of Optimum Whey (1 chocolate, 1 strawberry) for $45 shipped or $25 each. Thats one hell of a deal considering I paid about $25 for a 2lb tub of designer whey at GNC.
