So I have some images taken from a microscope at 200X and 800X, respectively. It's the same image, only zoomed to a portion of the 200X image. I'm trying to draw an inset box in the 200X image, but I can't seem to find where it belongs. Can anyone see where it's supposed to go? It's a stupid task, but I've been staring at these two images for over an hour, and I think I just need someone to take a fresh look at it. There's also two sample images so you get an idea of what I'm getting at.

200X Image
800X Image
200X Sample
800X Sample

I know this looks impossible, but I'd be really grateful if someone can save me from this ridiculous task.

EDIT: Found it, thanks to Basilisk. Thanks to everyone who helped out!

lol sorry, poor explanation...the 800X image is somewhere inside the 200X image...only I can't find it. It's the same as the 800X sample and the 200X sample.

Ahhh, better explanation, but I'm not seeing it.

Well.. maybe all the way on the bottom, most of the way toward the right? It almost kinda-sorta looks like a handprint, although the bright dots are missing - but I can't see them anywhere else in the 200x image either, so *shrug*

I know, it's hard to see. That's why I've been staring at it for an hour. I'm just hoping someone will glance at it and just happen to see where it goes.

Can't unfortunately. The image is almost completely black in reality. It's been amplified by a fluorescent tracer, but that's as bright as it gets.

All I see is black in both images I'll have another look when I get home from work and can use a better monitor

That's one possibility I considered. The thing that makes me unsure about that location is that in the 800X shot, the top of the image is darker, whereas in the 200X shot, that region gets lighter...

lol they're images of neurons in the brain. The ones in these pictures are responsible for motor control of the lower legs (calf muscles). My field of research is spinal cord injury, trying to help people with partial or complete paralysis walk again.

You're right, they're not identical. The 800X image isn't simply a digital zoom of the 200X image. It's literally a completely different set of lenses, so the field of focus won't be exactly the same. What I can say is that the 800X image is definitely within the region of the 200X image, but that some things that are in focus in one image may or may not be present in the other. The sample pics provide a good example of that.

just raise the contrast and brightness in photoshop. otherwise take a few more shots of the cells including distinct patterns.

what if it (the little plastic square that covers the cell samples on top of slide thingy) was moved slightly when changing the lenses or breathed upon heavily?

you mean the coverslip? It wouldn't move...the lens doesn't ever come in contact with the slide.
