So what exactly is Bush doing wrong here?

Nothing. If people don't understand a problem, they always blame the person in charge for thier ignorance.

You're an idiot. He's right now pushing $10.2 BILLION dollars in aid through to them, is working on sending up to 40000 National Guard troops there, and is releasing oil from the Strategic Reserve to lower gas prices. He's personally touring the area to show his genuine concern. What more do you want him to do? Ride a unicycle through the town naked handing out peanut butter sandwiches???

That whole area has been a ticking time bomb. The governor is going to have her rear handed to her when this is all done for not having systems in place for this situation that they knew would eventually come.

correct!
wanna talk about leadership?
The mayor was Complaining that he wanted the Levees sandbagged and it wasnt done.

TODAY the govenor FINALLY officially Deployed Law enforcement and the national guard.
TODAY the governor FINALLY Suspended the need for a bond for out of state troopers.

And the Governor FINALLY organised A FUND for relief.

But she did ask for a day of prayer, yesterday.

These are the ppl that are supposed to be in charge.

Seems to me that this was a horrible, natural disaster that was sorely lacking in leadership.

He made the Hurricane happen don't ya know. He's not down there protecting the Wally World. Every thing is his fault because he started the Iraq war and spunt up all the monies we need to save a city built below sea level from a hurricane. Plus we all know he doesn't really care because there all po black folk. We all know he should have dropped 20000 troops in a disaster area at once so they could suffer as bad as the people already there. It all them bad Repulicans fault pay no nevermind to the State and local Government that apparently had no plans for this type of situation. If Hillary Clinton was in Office she would have gone down there and split Lake Pontchartrain like the Red Sea and led the people to freedom.

yeah, its a plot/excuse to drill for more oil

the greenies believe it

they think bush had the CIA make the hurricane so he would have an 'excuse' to open ANWR to drilling and put up oil platforms off miami beach

its a big conspiracy

Actually even the Mayor and Gov think the Fed's are worthless right now...

Mayor blasts feds: "They are spinning and people are dying"

Governor: Troops 'know how to shoot and kill'

He'd know what to do and have responded by now. GWB is too busy flying over and shaking his head...what a moron. God, I'm glad I didn't vote for him in the last election.

The problem is they have NO communications down there, so the mayor has little to no idea of any of the aid that's in progress right now. All he's seeing is deaths in his city and is pleading for someone to make it stop. It's heartbreaking really...we are doing the best we can though.

we have leaders, but we don't have "great" leaders.
OK smart guy what would you do if you had the power???

Heroically lead a militia force into battle while shooting MREs and bottled water out of my ass. Obviously.

rudolph giuliani

This isn't even cloe to 9-11

If you want to compare the two then about 80% of the buildings in New York would be hit by planes and the entire area under 20 ft. of water.

IF that was the case Rudolph couldn't do anything but sh!t himself.

9-11 was very localized and had a much better police and fire department already in place.

You want Bush to invent a time machine, go back a week ago, and use his Omnipotent powers to stop the forces responsible for creating hurricanes? 😕

If you weren't just a buffer of ascii text rendered by my LCD screen, I would kiss you! :lips:

Governors are responsible for their states. Bush is not in charge of this problem, his aid can only come in the form of pushing some money in that direction and getting some of our forces involved. It will be a SAD day when the President is actually responsible for every local or state problem that happens - if that ever happens, I will have wished the South had won the civil war and we were confederated.
