Still waiting an update from Citibank. I got this email from them on Sunday

Dear TJ,

I understand your concern regarding the affidavit of forgery you filled out on May 15, 2012 for check number xxx, for $2,500.00. I have sent an email to xxx, the branch manager you recently filled the affidavit of forgery with. Being that it is a Sunday, today, please allow until Tuesday, June 12, 2012 for a response. I have advised him to either contact you at your number on file, xxx, or to return my email and I will contact you. You may also visit the branch if it is more convenient for you. Your time is precious to me and I would like to thank you for your patience and understanding regarding this matter. Rest assured that we are working diligently toward a quick resolution.

I doubt this email. They'd never state an option that the Manager has an option to call you back. Nor would they contact you on Sunday for a response that would happen on Tuesday unless you sent your email that Sunday (which you didn't).

Because I was already waiting and now I am told I may or may not be contacted by the problem solver PLUS I have to wait another two days.

I'd be pissed at this poor-ass excuse for a solution that wasted my time opening it.

Yeah, this thread still doesn't make any sense. I've told a few IRL friends about it and every time I find myself at a loss for words when they ask, "why didn't he just tell the landlord to pound sand when he revealed that he did have possession of the check at some point?"

Because that's all it comes down to. The landlord had the check, he ADMITTED he had the check after first lying about it, and then he tried to make it TJ's fault that he didn't get the money. Since the landlord had possession of the check, TJ's obligation was fulfilled, and it's not up to him to make sure the landlord knows how to deposit a check.

So either TJ stupidly got way more involved than he needed to, or he's not telling the whole story.

ha. I called the customer service number a couple days ago and asked if they had an update. They said they were still investigating. I went off on them and said I was going to close my accounts, etc. They didn't seem to care. I plan to close my accounts soon but I just need to take care of a couple of things first.
