Wheres a good place to get some brake work done?

Have a 98 Neon, and the brakes sound like crap. Want to get them checked out. Where do you recommend going, and where should I stay away from?

IMHO, stay away from chains (Tuffy, etc) and try to get it done at a local shop. Best thing you can do is ask a friend who they are happy with.
Most general shops should be able to do break work. But unlike Tuffy they generally will not try to sell you a new muffler system and flush/fill your radiator.
Not to say they are all 100% honest which is why you still need to ask around local for an opinion.

i found a local shop that is super good/fair/no cheating me

it was a recommendation from a guy at work, so maybe you ask somebody local to you
