Southern Arkansas is awesome - 2 hours from the nearest interstate, no traffic jams, you can buy a nice house for 40 grand, and rent is 300 bucks a month for a decent 2 bedroom . . .

I live in Lousiana for over 20 years and can't wait to get out. The only good thing about this place is low cost of living. The bad: hot and humid in summer, dumb rednecks, corrupt politicians, bad roads and horrible drivers.

I am saving money now to move out. Probably to Texas or Florida.

Maybe Richmond, VA or Raleigh, NC - neither are terribly expensive, and the climate is very mild when you're comparing it to chicago.

Indianapolis has got to be about the cheapest place for middle class folks to work and live and still have all the amenities of a large metro area at your finger tips

less wind and more moderate climate than Chicago, but you still get a tast of four seasons

yeah.. we've been real happy in south carolina (came here from DC area 13 years ago). it still gets cold in the winter but doesn't last long and nothin' compared to chicago..
