Disney cruise, which location? (be sure to describe your choice)

  • Grand Cayman, Cayman Island - Costa Maya, Mexico, and Cozumel, Mexico

  • St. Maarten, St. Thomas/St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands

none, all are just tourist traps and way way way too many people for me. find a vacation rental on homaway.com or vbro.com and have a much better time away from being herded around like sheep. for the price you are paying for that disney cruise with airfare you could get a modest 1 week vacation home rental for about the same price if not cheaper.

Your right, but I wouldn't get the leisure of knowing all the planning and stress of setting up the vacation was dissolved by Disney and all I have to do is show up and do whatever I want. That is service worth paying for IMHO.

Staying somewhere on the islands is many things, but cheaper is not one of them. Particularly if he lives in Florida and can drive to the port. Cruises aren't for everyone, but they are cheap. I've done it both ways many times.

I don't live in Florida - that is why I was asking about when the children go back to school after summer breaks...

Definitely go to the USVI , I’ve been there twice ands once to Mexico on cruises, Mexico just does not compare , the USVI has a place called Megan’s bay, I believe in St.Thomas, it’s the most beautiful and prettiest place I’ve ever been, everything from the soft sand to the beautiful crystal blue water is just gorgeous, Michael Jordan owns a mansion on a cliff overlooking the bay, last time I was there I used binoculars to look out his balcony, a man with a bald head and black skin was standing out there with a beautiful women drinking wine or champagne or something. It really did look like him. I was told it was MJ;s house by the tour guides, also when you get there don’t do the official cruises tour its way to expensive, the locals will take you to better places just give them a description of what you’d like find a guy with a recently new car not a beater, you don’t want to be one of those guys in a stranded van that’s broken down in the middle of the island, as far as Disney cruises go, id avoid them like the plague, no casino’s and no alcohol

Just my .2 cents but the USVI is a much better itinerary

edit, and yes, im in fl about an hour /45mins from the port of Miami.

"Free" food and drinks. Boat ride there was great (Twister speed boat that did 360s). Guacamole was really good. Water trampoline and slides and other things. It was the most fun I've had at any of the excursions I've been on. My wife also agrees on that assertion. My brother and his wife also went there on a different trip and it was their favorite part of their cruise as well.

My biggest disappointment was probably Atlantis in the Bahamas. It was expensive and was more pretty than it was fun. That wasn't on your list anyway.

you crazy, atlantis is fucking AWESOME i stayed there 2 decembers ago for 5 days and did NOT want to leave. the nicest place i've ever stayed at by far and it was a blast exploring the place and going in the water park. the food was amazing as well.

as for the OP, i'd go with the 2nd option. but that's pretty much only because i want to go to all those places and have been to cancun 2x already, which is awesome too. if you go to mexico and can take a day trip to xel-ha, i STRONGLY STRONGLY recommend it. one of my favorite places i've ever been to in my life.

St Martin is a beautiful island with a unique Franco-Dutch vibe. The US Virgin Islands are nice too. If it's your first cruise, I highly recommend it.
