no big loss, unit 1 is probably more conveniently located (though it is next to people'e park).
Anyway, almost nobody lives in the dorms past their first year at cal, so you should keep an eye out for what areas you might want to look for apartments in.

Also, if you are going into engineering (or physics, chem, math), you will probably want to live on the north side of campus (near foothill) to cut down on the commute.

I would choose Berkeley in a heartbeat, but overall UCLA seems like a better place for me.

There's a lot of bums at your school.

at the school? no, there aren't.

anyways, i can't believe this is a question. berkeley is one of the top schools in the nation... if you give a sh!t about academics you would choose it.

I agree, but I think no cal > * > so cal. I lived in both, and there are MANY, MANY placed I would rather live than SoCal.

I've visited and stayed over at UCLA a couple times and I've taken classes for two years at Berkeley. From the first day on at Berkeley, I didn't like it. UCLA is pretty nice, I wish I had gone to school there.

Harvard
Cornell for Vet school or Saganism

congrats on coming to berkeley.

unit 1 has good location but theyve been doing massive construction on it for quite awhile. it sucks to live in either unit 1 or unit 2 nowadays cuz theyre trying to put up two additional buildings in both units (so im told). if they go fast it might be done by the fall but you still might have to put up with some construction. on the flip side, you're close to the new dining commons. :) the super dc its a hecka lot better than the "food" they served at unit 1 two years ago.

The letter states about construction.. Suck! I have a question about meal plan. Standard plan (14 meals/week) is enough for a week? They only give 2 meals a day?

why? california has some of the best schools in the country, its not like alabama has anything comparable to offer compared to scchools like the UC System, stanford, caltech, harvey mudd, etc.

get the flex meal plan. 14 is a good #. thats what i did. but you end up wasting less meals with the flex plan. you get dining dollars to spend at the cafes and stuff on campus and you can "rollover" on your meals. with the regular meal plan, if you dont use it you lose it. :)
